Specification details of the racking system.

Assessment and recommendations regarding load capacity and load signage .

Verification of proper installation practices  to manufacturers & SEMA design codes.

Evaluation of the correct usage of the racking to endure both the installation and systems is fit for purpose.

Analysis of environmental conditions within the warehouse.

A comprehensive damage report utilising the SEMA Red/Amber/Green classification system, along with a location plan where required.

Expert recommendations for damage prevention.

Photographic evidence of typical issues encountered during inspections.

Provision of useful contacts and relevant documentation.

Checks of handling equipment and pallets

These inspections help to maintain safe operating conditions in storage environments and ensure compliance with industry standards.

With over two decades of experience in the design, supply, and installation of various racking and shelving systems from multiple manufacturers, I possess specialised expertise in Mecalux systems, Apex, Link51, Kardex Stow, Hi-Lo, Dexion, Redirack, and AR racking systems, among others. This expertise enables me to deliver comprehensive, expert, and precise assessments of your storage systems, environment, and operational practices.

I provide an independent Racking Inspection Service devoid of any conflicts of interest, as I do not engage in the repair or maintenance of storage racks and derive no financial benefit from such activities.

Should works be required I can offer recommendations of trusted reliable contractors who can assist.

Clients can expect an easily interpretable and detailed report that adheres to SEMA's latest reporting guidelines.

I pride myself on delivering a swift and efficient service with competitive fixed pricing, subject to site conditions, and a two-month reminder for your subsequent annual inspection. Additionally, I offer the option to schedule inspections a year in advance to maintain compliance seamlessly.

Onsite Rack Safety Awareness Training is also available, along with an emergency out-of-hours service, which is contingent on location and the extent of the site.

Inspections are conducted for a wide range of systems, including Pallet Racking, Cantilever Racking (up to 5 meters in height), Drive-In Racking, Push Back and Gravity Racking, as well as Shelving Systems and Industrial Mezzanine Floors.

It is important to note that the S.A.R.I (SEMA Approved Racking Inspector) qualification is the sole certification recognised by the Health and Safety Executive and insurance providers.

Rack Safety Awareness Training

Delivered by a SEMA approved racking inspector

The Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) recommends that your racking is inspected regularly, frequently and competently by your appointed (PRRS) Person Responsible for Racking Safety to ensure that all risks can be identified and assessed.

Rack inspections are integral to the ongoing safety of your warehouse racking and having trained staff on-site to assess your racking and report damage is of the utmost of importance.

Our training can take place on-site, where delegates will learn practical and theory skills to identify racking damage and have the knowledge to know how to handle any potential issue according to health and safety guidelines.

The half day course (approximately 4 hours) is presented by a SEMA Approved Racking Inspector who will provide your staff with the required skills to inspect racking on a weekly basis. Well-suited for groups of 2-8 delegates, the course provides both extensive information and hands on training

Content of Our Rack Safety Awareness Course

Our rack safety awareness course consists of two sessions, the first session focuses on theory, the second session focuses on hands-on training whereby your staff apply the knowledge they acquired by surveying your racking installation on-site.

Topics of the day include:

•  SEMA guidelines and codes of practice in relation to pallet           rack inspections

•  Health & safety regulations relating to pallet racking                      inspections

•  The reasons why pallet racking inspections are required

•  Racking terminology and component identification

•  Types of damage that can occur, with group discussions               examples

•  Technical information on deflection limits, damage                         limitations and more

•  A question and answer session takes place after all slides            have been covered in each section

•  Delegates are taken into the warehouse to look for and                identify damage

•  A short assessment questionnaire is completed by delegates    to finish the course

Please note: This course would not provide your staff with a SEMA qualification, however, they would be trained to carry out an intermediate safety inspection following the SEMA & HSE Guidelines and receive a certificate as evidence of competence for the task. This is not a pre-qualification for the SEMA SARI course.
The course is demonstrated and conducted at ground level only.
